Healing 2 minutes at a time

God’s Plan is never a second late. We are all here to help each other.

I spent the day today driving around San Francisco visiting all of the independent book stores to present Angel Birthdays in person. It was an awesome day! The reception of this book has been so amazing. It makes me so happy to have others see the healing power of Angel Birthdays too. I can’t wait for October!

But something happened today that profoundly moved me. I was on my way out of the city driving home in my happy trance when I was stopped at a traffic light. An amputee homeless man wheeled up to my car. I looked him in the eye, which seemed like a unique experience to him, and smiled. He returned the smile so gratefully. Making a point to always offer food over money, I offered him the crackers I had purchased right after my very first bookstore stop of the day. You would have thought I offered him a chocolate cake. He was so happy and said, “Yes!” I’m not sure if it was more about the food or more about the feeling that he mattered, that someone actually “saw” him.
I couldn’t help but to think about God’s plan for me that day. Had I not stopped and bought crackers or spent more time at any one of the other bookstores, I may have missed him. I’m a firm believer that God’s plan is not a second late and I just couldn’t get it out of my head that although today was an amazing day of bringing Angel Birthdays to life, it all seemed secondary to giving this man some food. God had me slated to do all of these things in order to help this one wounded man. It humbled me as I sat in awe over God’s intricate plan (yes, all while waiting at a very long red light) and how he uses every single one of us to help each other. His plan is never a second late. I was reminded that we must always have faith, that we are always exactly where we are supposed to be (whether or not we agree), and that our next assignment is just right around the corner waiting for us.
